A Scottish tartan for all Ocean champions

حوإ¼½م½م' Ocean tartan celebrates the beauty of the global Ocean and the long history of ground breaking marine research in Scotland.

Each colour has a specific meaning:

Mid and Dark Blues: Different Ocean domains

Light Blue: Clean water

White: Scotland’s connection with and scientists' research for the Arctic

Yellow: Biodiversity and oceanographic technologies

Purple: Commitment to the community, education, and حوإ¼½م½م' founding partnership with the University of the Highlands and Islands ()

Green: The mission for a healthy and sustainable Ocean future

The Ocean tartan can be worn by anyone who appreciates the marine environment, is committed to its wellbeing, and enjoys Scotland and its marine science heritage. Many who wear it choose to join Clan Ocean.

We currently produce Ocean tartan scarves, blankets, ties, snoods, serape capes and cloth for kilts or other sewing projects.

All products are exclusively available at our Ocean Explorer Centre shop or occasionally at regional events. We sell some tartan inspired but less traditional articles in our .

The tartan development was a collaboration between designers Jessica Giannotti (an alumna of our BSc Marine Science programme) of and  and The House of Edgar with Dr Anuschka Miller of حوإ¼½م½م. It has been since 2022.

If you would like to find out more or maybe purchase tartan products without being able to visit حوإ¼½م½م, please contact Anuschka.Miller@sams.ac.uk
